Team up to battle breast cancer at the Bowral Classic

By May 21, 2019Charity News

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with eight women dying from the disease every day. Unfortunately incidence is on the rise, meaning more mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends and families will be impacted.

In February 2019 the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) released new figures from the Australian Institute of Health & Welfare (AIHW) that showed the number of men and women diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia is up by 7%. This is an increase from 18,235 new diagnoses in 2018 to 19,535 this year.

Research is the only way to improve the treatment outcomes for all of those diagnosed.

That’s why we have partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation for this year’s Bowral classic.

The National Breast Cancer foundation are Australia’s leading national body, funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Their mission is simple: stop deaths from breast cancer.

How? By identifying, funding and championing world-class research.

Since their inception in 1994, the five-year survival rates for breast cancer have improved from 76% to 91%. It’s proof that NBCF’s strategy of funding targeted, breast cancer research is working.

But the job’s not done. With the incredible support of the community, they’re determined to reach zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Are you with us? By taking part in the 2019 Bowral Classic and raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation you can help to create a future without fear of breast cancer.
